Description

The new REL Planar 2 is REL’s boldest rethink of subwoofer design in years. Part of the all-new Planar Series, the Planar 2 takes REL’s signature deep, fast and musical bass performance and packages it into an ultra-slim enclosure designed specifically for wall-mounted or near-wall installation.

Unlike conventional subwoofers that occupy valuable floor space, the Planar 2 is just 144mm deep and can be mounted directly onto a wall, allowing bass performance to integrate far more discreetly into modern homes and media spaces. REL has intentionally designed the cabinet to utilise boundary reinforcement from nearby walls, improving bass performance while maintaining an exceptionally slim profile.

At the heart of the Planar 2 is a newly developed 8-inch FlatPiston long-throw active driver paired with a 10-inch passive radiator. This combination enables the Planar 2 to deliver bass extension down to an impressive 27Hz in-room while maintaining the speed, texture and musical integration REL subwoofers are renowned for.

Wireless AirShip connectivity is included for cleaner installations and greater placement flexibility, making the Planar 2 an exciting solution for both custom installation projects and high-performance living room systems. It is a subwoofer designed not only to sound impressive, but also to disappear visually into the environment.

Why Choose the REL Planar 2?

The Planar 2 is designed for customers who want serious low-frequency performance without the compromises of traditional large-box subwoofers. It combines REL’s musical, fast and highly integrated bass character with a form factor that works beautifully in contemporary interiors and custom installation environments.

Its ability to mount directly onto a wall opens up entirely new possibilities for system design, particularly where floor space is limited or aesthetics are important. At the same time, the deeper bass extension and larger active driver make the Planar 2 capable of delivering substantial scale and authority for both stereo and cinema applications.

For customers building premium living room systems, media walls or discreet home cinema spaces, the Planar 2 offers a unique combination of performance, flexibility and design elegance that very few subwoofers can currently match.
