Description

The Rega Planar 6 RS takes everything we love about the standard Planar 6 and pushes it firmly into high-end territory. As part of Rega’s “Rega Special” range, this model borrows key technology from the flagship Planar 8—resulting in a turntable that delivers exceptional speed, detail, and musical engagement.

It’s a serious bit of kit, and one that comfortably punches above its price point.

What’s New with the RS?

The Planar 6 RS isn’t just a cosmetic upgrade. It’s been carefully reworked to extract more performance where it matters most.

You get the superb RB880 tonearm, a significant step up in precision and tracking ability, along with Rega’s top-tier Nd9 moving magnet cartridge, factory-fitted and perfectly aligned.

The plinth also benefits from a refined construction, improving rigidity and reducing unwanted resonance—helping deliver a cleaner, more dynamic sound.

Built Around Performance

Like all Rega turntables, the Planar 6 RS is built around a lightweight, low-mass philosophy. By reducing mass and increasing rigidity, unwanted energy is minimised—allowing the music to flow with greater clarity and timing.

The double-brace system, float glass platter, and twin drive belts all work together to improve speed, stability, and accuracy, giving you a more precise and engaging listen.

Neo PSU Mk2 Included

Supplied as standard, the Neo PSU Mk2 offers electronic speed change between 33 and 45 RPM, along with improved motor control and reduced vibration.

It’s a key part of the package and plays a big role in the Planar 6 RS’s refined and confident presentation.

Why We Like It

The Planar 6 RS sits in a really sweet spot. It offers a clear step up from the standard Planar 6, but without stretching into full Planar 8 territory on price.

If you’re looking for a turntable that delivers genuine high-end performance while still feeling easy to live with, this is a brilliant choice.

Paired with a quality phono stage—like the new Rega AOS—you’ve got a seriously capable analogue front end.
