Description

The Linn Koil is an accomplished moving-coil cartridge designed to bring greater detail, clarity and musical involvement to vinyl playback. Positioned as the first step into Linn’s premium moving-coil range, it offers a significant performance upgrade over a conventional moving-magnet cartridge.

Koil uses a nude Microlinear diamond stylus, which follows the record groove with excellent accuracy and retrieves fine musical information that simpler stylus profiles can miss. Its small contact area also helps it track demanding passages cleanly, producing a more open and controlled presentation.

The stylus is mounted to a low-mass boron cantilever. Boron combines excellent stiffness with very little weight, allowing the cartridge to respond quickly to changes in the groove. The result is precise timing, clearly defined instruments and a natural sense of energy.

With an output of 0.4mV, Koil is designed for use with a suitable moving-coil phono stage. It is available as an upgrade for compatible turntables and is also fitted as standard to the moving-coil version of the Majik LP12.

Whether upgrading an existing LP12 or choosing a new Majik LP12 MC, Koil provides an accessible route into the greater refinement and musical performance of moving-coil vinyl reproduction.

Why Choose the Linn Koil?

The Koil is an ideal choice for anyone ready to move beyond a moving-magnet cartridge and discover what a well-engineered moving-coil design can bring to a record collection.

Its Microlinear stylus and boron cantilever retrieve more information from the groove, improving clarity, timing and separation without losing the natural flow that makes vinyl so enjoyable.

For Majik LP12 owners, Koil provides a logical and worthwhile upgrade from the Linn Adikt. It is also an excellent starting point for a new LP12 system built around moving-coil playback.

Professional installation and setup are recommended to ensure the cartridge alignment, tracking force and phono-stage settings are correctly configured for the best possible performance.
