Description
The Linn Ekstatik is the company’s flagship moving-coil cartridge, created to extract the highest possible level of musical information from the record groove. Developed as the ideal partner for the Ekos SE tonearm, it combines carefully selected materials with an exceptionally rigid and lightweight construction.
At its heart is a Micro-Ridge diamond stylus mounted to a sapphire cantilever. Sapphire is considerably stiffer than aluminium or boron, helping reduce energy loss between the stylus and generator. This allows Ekstatik to respond rapidly and accurately to the smallest variations within the groove.
The cartridge body is machined with a bespoke honeycomb structure, removing unnecessary material and reducing its overall mass to approximately 7g. This skeletonised construction helps control unwanted resonance while retaining the rigidity required for precise tracking.
Aluminium-bronze threaded inserts provide a secure connection to the tonearm and were selected following extensive listening tests. Linn’s three-point mounting system further improves mechanical stability and alignment when Ekstatik is partnered with a compatible Linn tonearm.
Ekstatik delivers an exceptionally transparent, agile and revealing performance, uncovering fine detail while preserving the timing, scale and emotional impact of the music. It is fitted as standard to Linn’s reference Klimax LP12.
