Description

The Esoteric K-01XD SE is a flagship-class digital source created for listeners who want the very best from their CD, SACD and digital music collections. Building on the acclaimed K-01XD, this Special Edition introduces upgraded clock technology and carefully refined analogue circuitry, bringing it even closer to Esoteric’s Grandioso reference series.

At its heart is the VRDS-ATLAS “ATLAS 01” transport mechanism. Its substantial duralumin platter and exceptionally rigid 20mm steel bridge help suppress vibration, stabilise disc rotation and improve reading accuracy. The mechanism is mounted centrally on a 5mm-thick steel base plate, providing a remarkably stable foundation for both CD and SACD playback.

Digital-to-analogue conversion is handled by Esoteric’s in-house Master Sound Discrete DAC. Rather than relying on a conventional DAC chip, it uses a sophisticated arrangement of carefully selected discrete components to preserve the full energy, texture and fine detail of the recording. The SE model features an upgraded DAC board with premium-grade components, including Esoteric’s proprietary IDM-01 amplifier modules.

Esoteric’s Master Sound Discrete Clock for Digital Player provides highly accurate internal timing, helping the K-01XD SE produce a focused, spacious and naturally expressive sound. Four independent toroidal transformers supply the left and right DAC channels, transport mechanism and digital circuitry separately, while an extensive bank of super capacitors provides generous reserves for powerful musical dynamics.

The K-01XD SE is equally accomplished as a standalone digital converter. USB, coaxial and optical inputs allow other digital sources to benefit from its exceptional DAC, while balanced XLR, RCA and proprietary ES-Link Analog outputs offer flexible system integration. Immaculately engineered and weighing 31kg, it is a true statement component in both performance and construction.
