Rega ND9 — Premium Reference Moving-Magnet Cartridge
The Rega ND9 is the flagship of Rega’s Nd series, built to deliver the highest fidelity possible from a moving-magnet design. Handcrafted in the UK, it uses a Boron-rod cantilever paired with a Fine-Line nude diamond stylus — a combination normally reserved for high-end moving-coil cartridges — to unlock exceptional detail and superb groove tracking.
At its core lies a powerful Neodymium N55 magnet and a refined, symmetric generator design with miniaturised parallel coils. The coils — wound in-house with 38 µm wire and precisely 1,275 turns — result in a low-inductance, low-impedance system that yields enhanced high-frequency response and an exceptionally wide, stable soundstage.
The cartridge’s body is formed from glass-filled PPS (polyphenylene sulphide) — a lightweight but rigid material that minimizes stress on the tonearm bearings for smoother playback.
Other standout features: it supports Rega’s 3-point mounting system, is supplied in fully recyclable packaging, and qualifies for Rega’s rebuild programme — meaning the cartridge can be refurbished rather than replaced when the stylus eventually wears.
