Excellence begins with bespoke engineering
Using their unique HDAM (Hyper Dynamic Amplifier Modules), the Cinema 50’s sound quality is lifelike and dynamic with a rich, spacious tone that wraps around you. Clock Jitter Reducer diminishes distortion to vanishingly low levels, helping to reveal subtle details. With the final sound quality spec meticulously tuned by Marantz’s Sound master, you can be assured of ‘best in class’ audio.
Immersive 3D sound – the way you want it
From Dolby to DTS, Auro to IMAX, the Cinema 50 has a surround format to suit. Standard formats include Dolby Atmos, Dolby Atmos Height Virtualization Technology, DTS:X, DTS Virtual:X, IMAX Enhanced, Auro-3D and 360 Reality Audio. This huge range of options means that you can adapt your surround sound speaker system from the simplest system with ‘virtual height’ speakers to full-blown 11.4 systems that truly bring the cinema home.
9-channel surround sound for flexible surround sound configuration
Featuring nine powered channels, the Cinema 50 gives you a wide choice of speaker configurations. Choose between 7.4.2 or 5.4.4 Dolby Atmos speaker configurations with two or four ceiling speakers. Alternatively, stick with 5.4.2 and power a second pair of speakers in another room or bi-amp your main pair of speakers. As your system grows, so the capability of this Marantz grows with it.
Upgrade potential
Add an extra stereo power amp via the 11 channel RCA outputs, and the Cinema 50 lets you configure four ceiling or Atmos-enabled speakers as well as full 7-channel surround sound. Alternatively, use two Atmos speakers and enjoy a broad soundstage with ‘front wide speakers’ forming a 9.2.2 system. If you don’t fancy a Dolby Atmos specific system but want the most immersive sound possible, go for an 11.2 configuration. This offers 7.2 sound with the addition of front width and front height speakers.
Quad subs for balanced bass
For the best-balanced bass, the Cinema 50 has four passive subwoofer outputs. This lets you place a subwoofer in each corner of the room, giving a smooth, even bass response. With four bass channels, you can also use smaller subwoofers. This gives you a tighter, punchier bass whilst not losing out on any bass weight and depth.
Acoustic room correction by DIRAC Live* or Audyssey
Thanks to state-of-the-art digital room correction from DIRAC, the Cinema 50 offers pro-level room optimisation. DIREAC live uses a USB microphone (not included) and dedicated PC software to take multiple readings around your room and feed the information back to the amplifier for a completely bespoke response (professional set-up recommended).

MultEQ XT32 for simple room set-up
In addition to DIRAC, the Cinema 50 also features set-up optimisation from Audyssey’s high-end MultEQ XT32 system. The XT32 version of this automatic measuring and set-up device features include Audyssey Dynamic Volume, Dynamic EQ, LFC and SubEQ HT for total control. If you want to take this even further, purchase the MultEQ Editor App (at additional cost) and you’ve access to advanced user settings.
Full 8K compatible HDMI interface
With all six HDMI inputs 8K and 4K/120Hz ready, you’re all set for a fully Ultra High Definition future. Two of the three outputs are 8K compatible, too. They support 8K pass-through, 4K/120Hz and 8K upscaling of 4K content, too. The Model 50 also supports the latest copy protection standard, HDCP 2.3, across all HDMI sockets.
A gaming advantage
The enhanced HDMI interface makes this Marantz AV receiver ideal for pairing with the latest games consoles. There’s support for 4K/120Hz and VRR (Variable Refresh Rate), giving you the best resolution and clarity. Quick Frame Transport (QFT) and Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM) help eliminate lag and frame tearing, giving you a smoother, more responsive gaming experience.
Wide-ranging HDR support
The Cinema 50 supports a wide range of High Dynamic Range video formats. These include Dolby Vision, HDR10 and HLG. It also supports HDR10+, which enhances picture realism by sending dynamic Meta data to your TV, as well as Dynamic HDR. In short, whatever the format used by the film, game or stream, the Marantz supports it.
Bluetooth, AirPlay 2, Internet Radio, Spotify Connect and much more
With both Bluetooth and AirPlay 2 connectivity, it’s easy to connect all your smartphones, tablets and compatible lap/desktops and stream music wirelessly. Simply connect to your home network via Ethernet or wi-fi and access thousands of Internet radio sites via TuneIn as well as subscription services such as Spotify Connect, TIDAL, Deezer, Amazon Music and more (premium accounts may be required).
Voice control via Alexa, Google Assistant and Siri devices
For the latest in smart home tech, Marantz have made the Cinema 50 compatible with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant and Siri devices. Simply download the HEOS Home Entertainment Skill app and then just ask Alexa or the Google Assistant to perform basic functions. Using the Apple Home App, Siri voice control from your Apple iOS device brings added functionality over AirPlay 2 – including grouping devices.
HEOS built-in – for the finest multi-room audio
HEOS multi-room music systems connect together by dual-band Wi-Fi, making them easy to set up with your existing home network. Up to 32 HEOS units can be set up at one time, ensuring even the largest of homes are covered for multi-room music. With HEOS already built-in, the Cinema 50 is ready to go as a single ‘zone’ without any further adaptors.
Connect everything from an 8K TV to a turntable
As well as the six HDMI inputs, the Marantz has you covered for connecting all your other sources. Twin optical and coaxial digital inputs are ideal for connecting older devices or upgrading the sound from a compatible CD/Network player. Five analogue inputs are perfect for hi-fi components, plus there’s a further, dedicated MM phono input for plugging in a turntable. Around the front, you’ll find a handy USB socket for media devices and a headphones socket.
Styling that’s a breath of fresh air
More usually known for styling that’s ‘brick like’, AV receivers aren’t often credited for their design. This Marantz is different! With its pleasingly symmetrical design, rounded edges, hidden buttons and porthole OLED display, the Cinema 50 is one of those rare AVRs that you’ll be proud to have on show. Simply choose between black or silver/gold finishes for the best look for your room.
